A fire outbreak on Friday morning destroyed part of the Lafia Modern Market in Nasarawa State, causing extensive damage to properties worth millions of naira.
The blaze, which reportedly started around 9:45 a.m., was attributed to a nearby dumpsite. However, the swift response of the state fire service prevented further devastation, saving some properties and ensuring no lives were lost.
Efforts to contact the State Fire Service Director, Joshua Ombugu, for comments were unsuccessful as he could not be reached by phone.
