Femi Fani-Kayode, the former Aviation Minister, has criticized Kemi Badenoch, leader of the British Conservative Party, for her persistent jabs at Nigeria.
In a recent social media post, Fani-Kayode responded to Badenoch’s claim that Nigerian police stole her brother’s phone, pointing out that her mother is under police protection in Lagos.
He accused Badenoch of ignoring the reality that British police are among the most racist forces globally. Fani-Kayode raised the question of why she would denounce the Nigerian police while simultaneously seeking protection for her mother.
“She claims to trust the British police and alleges that Nigerian officers stole her brother’s watch and shoes. Yet, she conveniently overlooks that the British police are notorious for being institutionally racist and corrupt,” he remarked.
He further highlighted that many Black individuals, including Nigerians, have faced wrongful framing, persecution, torture, and even loss of life at the hands of British authorities, particularly amidst the violence of knife crime, which disproportionately affects the Black community.
“The British police have often ignored these injustices simply because the victims are predominantly Black. Given her criticisms of our police force, it’s puzzling that she insists on police protection for her mother in Lagos,” he concluded.
