The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he is “blind and deaf” to criticisms from his detractors, emphasizing his focus on developing the FCT.
Wike made this statement on Friday during the flag-off ceremony for the design, construction, and furnishing of the office annex for the Body of Benchers in Abuja.
Speaking on his approach to handling criticism, Wike stated that, as a politician, he has developed a “thick skin” and remains unbothered by negative comments.
“The good thing about being a politician is that you must have thick skin. I don’t hear what people say, I don’t see those saying it, and I don’t respond,” Wike remarked.
He further elaborated on the qualities politicians should embody:
“Three traits are essential for a politician:
1. You can’t see.
2. You can’t talk.
3. You can’t hear.
“So, whatever they’re saying, you don’t hear it. Whoever is saying it, you don’t see them. And because I can’t talk, I don’t reply. I simply focus on doing my work for the good of the country. That’s all that matters.”
Wike’s comments highlight his commitment to staying focused on his responsibilities despite external criticisms.
