Tech billionaire Elon Musk has updated his name to “Kekius Maximus” on X, the social media platform he owns.
The change, made on Tuesday, was not accompanied by an explanation from Musk.
Musk, known for his unpredictable online behaviour, has drawn significant attention for his influence on political and social discourse.
Musk and Political Controversy
Reports have highlighted Musk’s influence in the U.S. political landscape, particularly surrounding Donald Trump’s presidential victory in 2016. Musk openly supported Trump following a shooting at a Pennsylvania rally and reportedly contributed an estimated $200 million to a Political Action Committee (PAC) backing Trump’s campaign.
However, in a recent statement in Arizona, Trump dismissed rumours that Musk might pursue the U.S. presidency.
“And no, he’s not taking the presidency. He’s not going to be president, that I can tell you. Do you know why he can’t be? He wasn’t born in this country,” Trump said, referring to Musk’s South African origins.
Trump also criticized his political opponents for fueling such speculation, calling it a “hoax.”
Musk’s name change and its connection to these political narratives remain unclear, leaving followers to speculate about his intentions.
