A 64-year-old Nigerian woman, Mrs. Uzoma Chinyere Ndubuisi, has reportedly been stranded in Egypt after her passport was allegedly confiscated by EgyptAir upon her arrival at Cairo International Airport.
Ndubuisi was traveling to the United Kingdom but found herself stranded after her passport was taken for immigration clearance and not returned for over three hours.
Speaking about her ordeal, Ndubuisi described being left at the airport without any assistance or support. She claimed that EgyptAir, despite being aware of her situation, failed to provide promised accommodation, leaving her and other passengers without adequate food, water, or a place to rest.
Her connecting flight to Manchester, scheduled for 8:55 a.m., was missed due to a delay in transportation to the airport. By the time she arrived at the terminal, the plane had already departed.
Obinna Okali, Ndubuisi’s son, has filed a formal petition against EgyptAir, accusing the airline of negligence and lack of compassion. He cited the unhelpful and unfriendly behavior of the airline’s staff as contributing to his mother’s plight.
In his petition, Okali stated, “The actions of EgyptAir staff directly led to my mother missing her flight. They have shown no consideration for her welfare or empathy for her situation.”
Okali also highlighted the emotional and physical toll on his mother, who has been stranded at Terminal 3 of Cairo International Airport without adequate food or water, enduring severe mental distress.
He demanded an immediate resolution, including rebooking his mother on the next available flight to Manchester and compensation for the trauma she has experienced.
“I kindly request an immediate resolution, which includes rebooking my mother on the next available flight to Manchester and compensating her for the physical and emotional trauma endured,” Okali stated.
He warned of potential consequences, adding, “Should anything untoward happen to our mother during this ordeal, we will hold EgyptAir fully responsible.”
As of now, EgyptAir has not publicly responded to the allegations or addressed the concerns raised by Ndubuisi’s family.
