There was confusion in Kano on Friday as heavy security operatives, including the police and DSS, barricaded the entrance to the palace of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
The reason for the security presence remained unclear at the time of filing this report. Sources from the palace speculated that it could be related to an attempt to prevent the Emir from accompanying his newly appointed Wamban Kano and District Head of Bichi, Munir Sanusi, to assume his official district post in Bichi.
Others suggested it was connected to the Emir’s planned meeting with economists regarding the proposed tax reform bills.
The development resulted in restricted movement in and out of the palace.
