Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development and the Nigeria Air Force have expressed plans to jointly host Nigeria’s first ever international air show in 2025.
Mr Tunde Moshood, Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo, disclosed this in a statement.
Moshood stated that decision was made during a courtesy visit by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, to Keyamo, at his office in Abuja.
During the visit, according to the SA, Abubakar revealed that the Nigerian Air Force had been independently planning its own air show before he got wind of the Ministry’s similar initiative.
The statement reads: “Recognising the immense potential of collaboration, the Air Chief thought of the partnership idea, realising that a united approach will significantly enhance the event’s impact and reinforce its global appeal.
“Keyamo lauded the Chief of Air Staff’s foresight and his gesture of collaboration, describing it as a critical step towards showcasing Nigeria’s aviation and aerospace capabilities to the world.
“In his remarks, Keyamo highlighted the importance of synergy between the ministry and the Nigerian Air Force in achieving shared objectives.”
In November, Keyamo said plans were in progress for Nigeria to host a three-day air show in the first quarter of 2025.
Keyamo had said: “The Ministry of Aviation will be championing the hosting of a Nigerian International Air Show to be held in Lagos next year, 2025. We expect this to happen in the first quarter of 2025. It is the first time that an international air show will be held in Nigeria.”
