The former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, was arraigned on Friday before a Federal High Court in Abuja on 19 counts of alleged fraud amounting to ₦80 billion. He pleaded not guilty to all charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

During the proceedings, EFCC counsel Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, informed the court of the prosecution’s decision to withdraw an earlier application seeking to fast-track the arraignment date, stating that the application was no longer necessary. Defense counsel, led by Joseph Daudu, SAN, did not oppose the withdrawal, and Justice Emeka Nwite granted the request.
