Senator Babafemi Ojudu, former Special Adviser on Political Matters to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has compared the failure to elect Professor Yemi Osinbajo in the 2023 presidential election to losing Chief Obafemi Awolowo a second time.
Ojudu shared this sentiment during an interview on the “State Affairs” program with Edmund Obilo, expressing his conviction that Osinbajo was the ideal candidate for Nigeria’s presidency in 2023.
Newsbulletin recalls that Osinbajo vied for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket in 2022 but lost the primary to President Bola Tinubu.
Reflecting on his decision to back Osinbajo, Ojudu said:
“I supported Osinbajo for president because I was convinced. Having observed him closely, his work ethic, philosophy, vast knowledge, and patriotic zeal were unparalleled. He was, in my opinion, the best person to lead Nigeria at that time.”
Ojudu went on to draw parallels between Osinbajo and Awolowo:
“Osinbajo would have been exceptional for this country. To me, not electing him is akin to losing Awolowo again, given his capacity, dedication, and unwavering commitment to Nigeria.”
