Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has announced the approval of renovations for Uba General Hospital and the local road networks.
Additionally, the governor greenlit the rehabilitation of eight primary schools in Uba town, which include Uba Central Primary School, Mufa A Primary School, Kuma Primary School, Masil Primary School, Uba Marghi Primary School, Low-Cost Primary School, Kwarghi Primary School, and Mufa B Primary School. This announcement was made on Saturday at the Palace of the Emir of Uba, Alhaji Ali ibn Ismaila Mamza. Moreover, Zulum revealed plans for the construction of a new palace complex worthy of the emir’s stature.
“You must ensure a full rehabilitation, provide furniture, and guarantee that qualified teachers are deployed,” the governor emphasized.
During his visit to the southern region of Borno, Zulum assessed ongoing projects, coordinated policy implementations, and approved the initiation of additional works.
He visited various institutions, including the Central Primary School, a newly constructed high Islamic school, the General Hospital in Uba, and Government Day Secondary School in Uvu, where he evaluated the progress of ongoing projects and identified necessary interventions for rehabilitation.
The governor also ordered the construction of a deep aquifer borehole for the High Islamic College in Uba.
While in Uvu village, within the Askira-Uba Local Government Area, he instructed the establishment of a new secondary school and the renovation of the central primary school.
Zulum concluded his Saturday activities by paying respects to the Emir of Askira, Alhaji Dr. Abdullahi Mohammed Askirama II, before spending the night in Askira town.
In addition, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum announced the hiring of four medical doctors for Uba General Hospital to enhance the healthcare workforce.
“We should coordinate with the Chief Medical Director to explore the deployment of up to four medical doctors while we consider whether to renovate the existing hospital or construct a new one,” Zulum stated. “Uba is a city that can attract doctors, and we’ll provide competitive remuneration. It’s essential that we ensure sufficient medications and supplies in this hospital,” he added.
