Yahya Bello
The immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, is expected to be arraigned today, Wednesday, November 27, before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
On Tuesday, Bello voluntarily reported to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the company of his legal team. Following his appearance, the anti-graft agency detained him for questioning and preparation for his court appearance.
Bello is set to appear before Justice Maryan Anenih of the FCT High Court in Maitama. Justice Anenih had earlier scheduled the arraignment for November 27 at the request of the EFCC, which issued a public summons against him on October 3 in connection with a fresh case.
The EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed that Bello would be arraigned at the FCT High Court but refrained from specifying a definite date.
At a previous hearing, EFCC Counsel Jamiu Agoro informed the court that the summons issued on October 3 was still valid. After hearing submissions from all parties, Justice Anenih granted the EFCC’s request for an adjournment and fixed November 27 for the proceedings.
