Former Senator Shehu Sani has taken issue with the global practice of designating someone as the “richest man” at any given time.
Sani contended that the title is misleading, stating that no individual can solely nourish a nation. He opined that only someone able to feed the entire world and meet the needs of all its inhabitants should earn such a designation.
In a post on his verified Facebook page, he stated: “There is no genuine title of the world’s richest man or Africa’s richest man. A wealthy person is wealthy only for themselves and their family.
“You cannot label someone as the world’s richest man if they are not providing for you, paying your rent, or covering your children’s fees. No one is wealthy enough to feed everyone on Earth to qualify as the world’s richest.”
