Nigeria experienced a nationwide blackout on Thursday as the national grid suffered another collapse. Reports indicate that power supply was disrupted around 11:20 AM.
The Nigeria National Grid confirmed the incident on social media platform X, stating, “BREAKING: Another Grid Setback Experienced.”
This marks the second grid collapse this week and the twelfth in the past eleven months, prompting a mixed response from Nigerians on social media.
As of now, the Transmission Company of Nigeria has not released an official statement explaining why the grid failed again on Thursday.
However, they previously attributed Tuesday’s collapse to issues with lines and generator trips.
On Wednesday, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, received an investigative report addressing the frequent grid failures in Nigeria, though the specifics have yet to be disclosed to the public.
There have been increasing calls for Adelabu’s resignation due to the ongoing crisis.
