The Kwara State Government has set the fee for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) 2024/2025 exams at N30,250 per student for those in the final class of senior secondary schools in public schools across the state.

 

The breakdown of the fee, as announced by the state’s Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, includes N27,000 for WAEC charges and N3,250 for e-registration and administrative costs.

 

Modibbo-Kawu made this announcement on Wednesday during her address to principals of senior secondary schools at the launch of the WAEC registration exercise at Saint Anthony’s Secondary School in Ilorin. She emphasized that no additional fees would be tolerated beyond those approved by the Ministry, warning principals against any form of extortion. Any principal found guilty of charging unauthorized fees would face disciplinary actions, she added.

 

The Commissioner also urged the principals to continue playing a pivotal role in securing the state’s future by nurturing the next generation of leaders. She expressed appreciation for their ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, which has contributed to improving the quality of education in the state.

 

Modibbo-Kawu further called on the principals to support the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, noting his strong commitment to the welfare of teachers and citizens.

 

In a related address, Mallam Bello Tauheed Abubakar, Chairman of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, commended Governor AbdulRazaq for his efforts in advancing the state’s education sector, particularly in improving teachers’ welfare. Similarly, Mrs. Olanrewaju Bake, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, praised the Governor for his significant contributions to the sector and urged teachers to stay committed to their responsibilities.

 

The Director of the Curriculum and Assessment Department, Mrs. Adewuyi Victoria, provided a detailed breakdown of the WAEC registration fees for 2024/2025:

 

  • WAEC Charges: N27,000
  •  E-registration Charges: N1,250
  • Administrative Charges: N2,000
  •  Total Fees: N30,250

 

The President of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, Kwara State Wing, Mohammad Baba, also expressed his gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq for his efforts in improving the education system, including the rehabilitation and construction of schools, as well as ensuring the prompt payment of salaries and promotions for teachers.

Baba assured that teachers in the state would continue to uphold their professional duties and justify the trust placed in them.
