The Kwara State Government has announced the temporary closure of Harmony Transport Services Ltd, commonly known as Kwara Express, as part of a restructuring effort aimed at enhancing the company’s productivity and efficiency.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Corporate Affairs Unit of the transport company, the temporary closure marks the beginning of a comprehensive overhaul designed to reposition the company for improved performance and economic growth.

The statement read: “This restructuring will involve the full settlement of exit benefits for all affected employees, with our best wishes for their future endeavors. The process is part of a broader effort to modernize the company’s fleet and infrastructure, incorporating advanced technologies to improve operational efficiency and customer service.”

According to Harmony Holdings Ltd, which oversees all government-run enterprises, while the decision to let go of staff was difficult, it is necessary to create a more sustainable operational framework for Harmony Transport Services Ltd (HTSL). The company has struggled with consistent growth and faced multiple closures in recent years.

The statement continued: “Recent customer feedback has highlighted the need for significant improvements, which has prompted this decisive action. We are committed to settling all exit entitlements for the affected staff, and their contributions to the company are deeply appreciated. Employees who wish to reapply after the restructuring will have the opportunity to do so.”

“We understand the inconvenience this temporary closure may cause our valued customers and assure you that we are working to minimize the duration of this disruption,” the statement added. “All measures are being taken to ensure a smooth transition as the company evolves to better meet customer needs and drive future success.”
