The Kwara State Government has condemned the alleged assault on a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member by a teacher at Government Day Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin, and warned against anti-social behavior within the state.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, issued the warning on Friday at the Ministry’s headquarters in Ilorin, according to a statement by the Ministry’s Press Secretary.
The Commissioner described the assault, allegedly carried out by a teacher identified as Mrs. Amuzat Fatima Nike, as unacceptable and contrary to the values of peace and harmony for which the state is known.
“Kwara State is renowned for its peaceful coexistence, and the government will not condone any action that disrupts the existing harmony in our academic institutions,” Hajia Modibbo Kawu said.
She further disclosed that the Ministry’s Anti-Loitering Team, alongside the Management Team of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, had conducted an unscheduled visit to the school to investigate the incident and restore calm.
In her appeal, the Commissioner urged the management of the NYSC, as well as all stakeholders, to remain patient and law-abiding. She assured that disciplinary action would be taken against the accused teacher following due process.
“The concerned teacher has been summoned, and the necessary disciplinary procedures will be implemented accordingly,” the statement concluded.
