Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has announced a compensation package worth N1.1 billion for structures impacted by the ongoing construction of FCT Highway 105, which extends from the Airport Expressway to Kuje township.
This was disclosed on Tuesday during a press briefing in Abuja following his inspection of affected structures along the route.
Wike explained that a detailed valuation report of the affected properties had been prepared.
He expressed his commitment to approving and disbursing the compensation promptly to prevent any delays in the project. “I have come here to see for myself the structures that have been evaluated for compensation. When I reviewed the approval file, it was only right that I verify the situation on the ground personally,” he stated.
The Minister assured residents and stakeholders that he is satisfied with the report findings and is prepared to proceed with compensating those affected.
“The total estimate for compensation stands at approximately N1.1 billion, covering various properties, including residential buildings within the community. We will release the funds without delay, ensuring the contractor has no grounds for stalling progress,” he affirmed.
In a separate engagement, Wike also inspected the construction of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal Complex and its access road within the Dakibiyu, Jabi District.
The Minister commended the progress and quality of work and projected that the project would be completed by September next year. “I’m pleased with the pace and standards being maintained. We anticipate that the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal will be ready by September next year,” he added.
The accompanying road infrastructure, according to Wike, is also progressing well to meet expected timelines.
