Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has announced a significant tuition hike for newly admitted students, with fees now ranging from N247,500 for Education students of Ekiti origin to N982,500 for Medicine and Surgery students.

For non-indigenous students, the fees are between N307,000 for Education and N1.13 million for Medicine and Surgery.

The management defended the increase on Monday, stating that the new fees remain affordable compared to other government universities in Nigeria.

Bode Olofinmuagun, EKSU’s Director of Information and Corporate Affairs, attributed the adjustment to rising operational costs, inflation, and the need to sustain the university’s infrastructure and quality standards.

He clarified that the hike affects only fresh students, with returning students exempt from the increase.

The institution emphasized that the fees are competitive when compared to other state and federal universities and highlighted that acceptance fees remain unchanged despite the hike.
