Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery has announced a reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, for marketers.
The new price of N970 per litre reflects a N20 decrease from the previous rate of N990.
This development was disclosed by Anthony Chiejina, the spokesperson for Dangote Group, in a statement released on Sunday.
The reduction is part of the refinery’s commitment to supporting Nigerians and fostering domestic enterprise as the year draws to a close.
“As the year comes to an end, this is our way of appreciating the good people of Nigeria for their unwavering support in making the refinery a reality,” the statement read.
Chiejina also emphasized the refinery’s commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards in its products while ensuring environmental sustainability.
He added, “We are determined to ramp up production to meet and surpass the country’s domestic fuel consumption, thereby eliminating fears of supply shortages.”
The price reduction follows a recent agreement between the refinery and the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) for direct fuel purchases.
Currently, petrol prices at filling stations across Nigeria range between N1,060 and N1,115 per litre.
This decision has sparked jubilation among marketers and consumers alike, offering some relief in the face of fluctuating fuel prices.
