The Oyo State Government has commenced the disbursement of N513,462,446.50 as compensation to property owners affected by the government’s land acquisition in the Ajia Inukan Local Council Development Area and Ona Ara Local Government Area.

The compensation process follows an earlier identification and verification exercise conducted by the government to assess the properties along the project corridor. After the valuation, the government prepared to compensate the affected property owners.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Williams Akin-Funmilayo, during a meeting with the claimants on Monday. In a statement released on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, in Ibadan, Akin-Funmilayo noted that the land was acquired for the construction of an Air Force Base, a General Hospital, and an ICT center in Ajia.

“To this end, the state government has allocated N513,462,446.50 as compensation to the affected property owners,” the statement said.

Akin-Funmilayo emphasized that the compensation is part of the government’s efforts to maintain a positive relationship with the residents.

One of the beneficiaries, Adedokun Olalekan, expressed his gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for his consideration and support for the people of the state.
