Kwara State Government has established a 21-member tripartite committee to determine the consequential adjustment for other categories of workers on the minimum wage in the state.
According to a statement released by the Government House on Thursday, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the constitution of the committee.
The statement, signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Rafiu Ajakaye, noted that the committee was formed in response to the new national minimum wage of N70,000, which necessitates consequential adjustments for senior cadres of workers in the state.
The committee comprises representatives from the state government, labour centers, and the organized private sector. It is chaired by the Head of Service and co-chaired by the Commissioner for Finance. The Director of Establishment and Pension serves as Secretary.
Other members include Commissioners for Budget and Planning, Works and Transport, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Communications; Senior Adviser and Counsellor to the Governor; Permanent Secretaries for Finance, Service Welfare, Justice; and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Labour Matters.
Representing the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment is the Federal Controller of Labour and Employment. The Labour movement is represented by the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, Chairman of the Joint Negotiation Council, Chairman of COHESU, and Secretary of the JNC.
The private sector is represented by the Kwara Chamber of Commerce, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, and Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises.
