A rice farmer, Taiwo Paul, has been brutally murdered by suspected herders in the Kata area of Ewekoro Local Government in Ogun State.
According to reports, Paul was hacked to death at his rice plantation on Thursday, after he failed to return home on time.
His twin brother, Kehinde, discovered his lifeless body in a pool of blood, with severe cuts on his hands and right leg.
Despite efforts by Kehinde and other villagers to rush him to the General Hospital in Ifo, Paul was pronounced dead on the way.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that detectives from Ewekoro Police Division visited the crime scene and the hospital for assessment, and photographs were taken.
The deceased’s body was released to his family for burial.
The command also confirmed another farm-related fatality, where Peter Danjuma, a farmer from the Isoyin area of Atan-Ijebu, was electrocuted to death while feeding birds at a poultry farm on Friday morning.
Danjuma was rushed to General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode, where a doctor confirmed his death.
Detectives from Atan-Ijebu Police Division visited the scene of the incident and took photographs.
The state police command has launched a preliminary investigation into both incidents and will transfer the cases to the State Crime Investigation Department at Eleweran for further discreet investigation.
