Manchester United are reportedly in the running to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, with the Red Devils allegedly preparing a player-plus-cash deal to secure the Nigerian striker’s services.
According to CalcioNapoli24, Manchester United have offered a combination of cash and striker Rasmus Hojlund in exchange for Osimhen, who has been linked to several top clubs, including Chelsea and PSG. The offer will be interesting to see if Napoli are willing to accept, given Osimhen’s impressive form and their apparent willingness to cash in on their star player.
Hojlund, a 22-year-old Danish international, joined Manchester United last season and made a promising debut campaign. It would be unexpected if United were to sanction his departure, as he has a bright future ahead of him.
Despite being Napoli’s top scorer for the past two seasons, including their Scudetto-winning campaign in 2022/23, Osimhen is reportedly available for sale this summer. His release clause was initially set between €120m and €130m, but Napoli have reduced their asking price to €100m due to the lack of official approaches.
While no official bids have been made from Chelsea, Manchester United, or PSG, La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that Napoli are open to negotiating with interested parties. The club turned down an offer of more than €200m from a Saudi Arabian team last summer, and Osimhen has since signed a contract extension with Napoli.
As one of the most exciting strikers in world football, Osimhen’s future remains uncertain, with the Premier League touted as his next destination.
