A tragic incident occurred on Friday in Isheri, Idimu area of Lagos State, when a yet-to-be-identified woman passed away in a tricycle while en route to her destination.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman had boarded the tricycle along Isheri-Igando Road and was headed to the Isheri end of the area.
The rider was supposed to drop her off at her designated bus stop, but upon arrival, he found her unresponsive.
An anonymous eyewitness recounted the events: “I was nearby when I heard the tricycle rider shouting for help. We rushed to the scene and found the woman lying motionless in the middle of the tricycle.
The rider said he was supposed to drop her off at Isheri, which is the last bus stop for tricycle riders in that area.
He expected her to step out and pay her fare, but when he saw she wasn’t responding, he raised the alarm.
The place was crowded because it seemed unusual.”
Another eyewitness, Sodiq, corroborated this account, stating that attempts were made by residents to revive the woman, but they were unsuccessful.
He added that the police later arrived at the scene, prompting people to leave the area to avoid getting implicated.
Sodiq speculated that the woman might have been suffering from an underlying medical condition or died of a heart attack.
The tricycle was taken to Idimu police station, while the deceased was transported to an undisclosed hospital in the area.
Efforts to reach Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin were unsuccessful as his phone calls and text messages went unanswered.
