Operatives from the Kwara State Police Command conducted a successful operation resulting in the arrest of three suspected cultists allegedly involved in a violent clash between rival groups. The incident occurred in Budo-Oke, Eiyenkori area of Asa Local Government in Kwara State. The arrested individuals were identified as Suleiman Ismail, Mamud Ibrahim, and Mudashir Saeed, all residents of the affected area.

According to reports, the clash between the rival cultist groups led to the destruction of two buildings in the town. The escalation of violence was triggered by an altercation between two suspected cultists, Adams Isah (also known as ‘Number One’) and Rasaq Olorunwa, both residents of Budo-Oke in Eiyenkorin. During the altercation, Isah was fatally stabbed in the chest by Olorunwa. Despite being rushed to the general hospital in Ilorin for medical attention, Isah was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The tragic incident further fueled tensions as members of Isah’s cult group sought retribution, disturbing public peace in their pursuit of vengeance for their leader’s death. Responding swiftly to the situation, police tactical teams apprehended the three suspects at the scene of the crime.

In a statement by DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, the command’s spokesperson, it was revealed that the arrested suspects were found in possession of a dane gun at the time of their apprehension. The suspects have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Ilorin for further investigation.

Despite the successful arrests, the search continues for Rasaq Olorunwa, who is presently at large, as well as other individuals involved in the crime who may have fled the scene. Commissioner of Police Victor Olaiya emphasized the seriousness of cult membership as a criminal offense under the law. He assured the public that normalcy has been restored to the area, and stringent efforts are underway to ensure that justice is served in the case.
