The Bello Idris Foundation hosted an event at Offa Grammar School (OGS) auditorium on January 16, 2024, to educate secondary school students on empowering their future. The event’s theme, “Empowering Futures: Navigating Pathways – A JAMB Success Workshop for Secondary School Students in Offa,” aimed to educate and impact students about their career goals and JAMB requirements for the courses they wish to pursue.
The secondary schools that participated are Offa Grammar School (OGS), St Claire’s Girls School, Ansar-Ud-Deen college (AUD), Hamdalat International School, Kwara State College of Health Education, Taoheed College Offa, and St Mark Secondary School.
Dr. Akeem Oyewale, the Managing Director of Marble Capital Limited and Chairman of Offa Volleyball Club, declared his willingness to sponsor the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 10 less-privileged students in Offa.
Mrs. Mujidat Bammeke Oladipo, the guest speaker of the day and Director of Student Affairs at Lens Polytechnic Offa, discussed career and skills with the students. She stated, “a career is what you determine and wish to become in the future; it is an individual choice, and you must have it at the back of your mind what you want to become.”
She explained to the students the importance of subjects combinations in JAMB exam, emphasizing the need for a good grade in their OLevel result and a clear understanding of JAMB subjects’ combinations for the various courses they wish to pursue.
Furthermore, she stressed the importance of English and Mathematics in an Olevel result and encouraged the students to identify and work on their weaknesses in various subjects.
Mrs. Oladipo listed the requirements for registering for the examination and provided her contact details for students who have not obtained the National Identification Number (NIN).
She encouraged the students to develop their skills, stating that not everyone will have the opportunity to work for the government or a standard organization, and having a skill would make things easier for students both in school and after graduation.
Comr. Bashir Oyewo, the former Nigeria Union of Teachers chairman, also spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of determination in students’ educational lives and advising them not to follow their friends in choosing a course of study.
As part of the event, a quiz was held among students from various schools, and ten students were awarded scholarships for their JAMB registration.
Mr. Bello Idris Opeyemi, CEO of the Bello Idris Foundation, expressed his gratitude for the participation of all students and thanked the sponsors of the scholarships, including Dr. Akeem Oyewale, CEO of Marble Capital, and others who contributed.
Mr. Opeyemi stated that such programme should be held regularly to motivate students and provide them with a clear understanding of what they will face after completing their secondary school education.

The event was graced by dignitaries such as the former NUT chairman, Comr. Bashir Oyewo, Mrs. Mujidat Bambeke Oladipo (DSA of Lens Polytechnic Offa), the Offa Student Union Representative, Mr. Ibrahim Adeyemi, the Student Union Government body of Federal Polytechnic Offa, represented by Comr. Azeez Majeed Olanrewaju (SUG PRO), and the Director of Wolf World, Mr. Uthman Mahroof, along with the coordinator of the students from their prestigious schools.
