The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has congratulated its member and Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on his victory at the Supreme Court, which affirmed his election in the March 2023 polls.
The National Publicity Secretary of the NNPP, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Abdulsalam, in a press statement issued on Friday, hailed the apex court for delivering a landmark judgment that upheld the will of the people of Kano State.
Abdulsalam said the Supreme Court verdict was a triumph of justice and democracy over injustice and tyranny, adding that Governor Yusuf had demonstrated resilience and courage in the face of daunting legal challenges.
He said the NNPP was proud of Governor Yusuf for his achievements in office, especially in the areas of education, health, infrastructure, and security.
He urged the governor to continue to serve the people of Kano State with dedication, humility, and accountability, and to extend a hand of fellowship to the opposition parties for the sake of peace and development.
He also called on the people of Kano State to rally round the governor and support his administration to deliver more dividends of democracy.
Abdulsalam exteded the congratulations to the NNPP Founder and the Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Dr Boniface Aniebonam and NNPP members. He praised Aniebonam’s leadership and tenacity in the face of diversity and political prosecution.
He said the NNPP was committed to working with Governor Yusuf and other progressive forces in the country to promote national unity, good governance, and social justice.
Abdulsalam also commended the governor for his visionary leadership and his efforts to transform Kano State into a modern and prosperous entity.
He cited some of the governor’s notable projects, such as the construction of flyovers, underpasses, and bridges to ease traffic congestion, the renovation and upgrade of schools and hospitals, the provision of free and compulsory education for all children, the empowerment of women and youths, and the enhancement of security and welfare of the citizens.
He said the governor had shown that he was a true democrat and a loyal member of the NNPP, which he joined in 2022 after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said the governor had contributed immensely to the growth and stability of the NNPP, which he described as the third force in the Nigerian political landscape.
He said the NNPP was confident that Governor Yusuf would continue to uphold the principles and ideals of the party, which are anchored on social justice, human dignity, and national development.
He congratulated the governor, his deputy, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the members of his cabinet, the Kano State House of Assembly, the NNPP state executive committee, and all the supporters and well-wishers of the governor on the historic victory.
He prayed to Allah (SWT) to grant the governor wisdom, strength, and success in his second term in office.
