Dr. Akeem Oyewale, CEO of Marble Capital Limited and Chairman of Offa Sports Academy, inspected the proposed site for the Offa Sports Academy at Offa Industrial Zone.
This proposed project is a significant stride towards fostering sports development in Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
Accompanied by key figures in sports and technology, including Coach Soba, Head Coach of Offa Volleyball Club, and Engr Olatunde Jide Kazeem, COO at ONEIH, Dr. Oyewale examined the site on Saturday, December 23, 2023. The project envisions state-of-the-art facilities such as basketball, volleyball, lawn tennis, badminton, handball, table tennis, squash, and a gym, aiming to meet world-class standards.
Dr. Akeem Oyewale emphasized the importance of the gym for enhancing athletes’ performance and highlighted the need for collaborations to realize this ambitious project, with ongoing efforts to engage both organizations, corporate individuals and the Kwara state government.
Dr. Oyewale’s commitment to sports and technology developments extend further, as he previously visited the ONEIH-KOLA BALOGUN TECHNOLOGY CENTER facilities scheduled for commissioning on December 28.
Speaking on the project, Coach Soba said, “We will have a basketball court, volleyball court, lawn tennis court, badminton court, handball court, table tennis court (which would require a minimum of two tables), squash court, and a gym.
“With these, we will be practicing at world-standard levels. For instance, you need to build your muscles, and there are specific areas in gymnastics that will enhance your performance as a sportsman.
“Also, the gym is sacrosanct for people who would like to come around and exercise their bodies.
“We will need a lot of collaborations because it’s a massive project. We have been reaching out to people and the Kwara state government.”
