Today it is 11 years since the late sage and foremost Agbaji-born national Philanthropist, Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki bade farewell to this world. Even though Baba is no longer physically with us, his legacy lives on and will continue to be in our memories.
Time will pass by, and seasons will go by, but the legacy of a righteous man will continue to live for generations. This is why, irrespective of political and or religious affiliation, Kwarans from all walks of life gathered at the Baba Saraki residence in remembrance of the great day, the 14th day of November when the late Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate breathed his last. The Agbaji-born Philanthropist is gone but he is closer to us because he left another Waziri Ngeri in Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki (CON) who has continued in the path of compassionate services to the downtrodden Kwarans and Nigerians.
As a politician of repute, Baba Oloye sacrificed his comfort, pride, and ego to raise many Kwarans from their knees to their feet. He also sacrificed his wealth, emptied his bank account, and even dashed out his properties to bless the children of nobody who are today somebodies in and across the political, career, and private sectors of Nigeria. How can we forget such a man who lived for us all?
This is a big lesson to those who hold sway today, those who hold trust in people’s mandate across Nigeria who have been carried away by power. Those who got to the office and began unnecessarily clamping down on those whom they perceived as their enemies have one or two things to learn from the Late Oloye. Instead of building refineries in foreign countries with poor people’s money, instead of wasting hundreds of millions of Taxpayers’ money to chatter private jets while people are languishing in hunger, why not imbibe selflessness and compassion like Oloye? The refineries will fade away or at most become someone else properties when you are no more, only your good deeds and your investment in people will outlive you and turn your name into an immortal entity when you are long gone.
May Almighty Allah continue to be pleased with the soul of Late Baba Olusola Saraki and uphold the family he left behind.
