The national president of the Offa Descendants’ Union (ODU), Alhaji Muideen Olaniyi Azeez Salako, paid a working visit to the newly renovated facility to accommodate the Nigerian immigration office in Offa.
The building, which was renovated by the ODU National Executives, will also serve as the Offa Area Office of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The president, who was there to inspect the facilities in preparation for the official commissioning of the passport front office, also met with the new immigration officers who had been posted to Offa.
During his inspection, the National President interacted with immigration officers and informed them that the ODU was focused on preparation for the commissioning of the facility.
He mentioned that the Minister of Interior, Mr. Tunji Ojo, and HE AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman, the Governor of Kwara State, are expected to attend the commissioning ceremony. He also emphasised that the establishment of the passport front office and the FRSC Area Command office in Offa will contribute to the economic growth of Offa and Ibololand, as well as the overall development of Kwara State.
It should be recalled that Alhaji Salako has previously donated a diesel generator engine from his personal residence in Offa to the Immigration Office. Additionally, the ODU National President personally provided chairs, tables, air conditioners, and other necessary equipment to the offices of the two federal agencies for smooth operation. He also used his own funds to secure suitable accommodations for officers deployed by the agencies. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has since deployed officers and state-of-the-art equipment to the Offa passport front office to ensure smooth passport production in the town.
During his visit, the national president also inspected the construction progress of the permanent office site for the Nigeria Fire Service in Offa. Alhaji Salako expressed his satisfaction with the pace of the work and expressed optimism that the project would be completed on schedule.
