I have known Kola Olootu since the mid 90s when he anchored a mid-week programme known as OSELENKEJO on BCOS 98.5 Fm situated at Oke Mapo in Ibadan at that time.
Since then, his OSELENKEJO has become a household name throughout the southwest of Nigeria for its uniqueness and excellent ability to entertain.

The role he played during the ordeal of Yinka Ayefele can never be underestimated.
Yinka Ayefele had already spent a period of nine months on the hospital bed in UCH after he had an auto crash that got him paralysed down to his waist. The visit of Kola Olootu to the UCH to see Yinka Ayefele turned things around for him when Kola Olootu advised if Yinka Ayefele could gather some musical materials for fundraising to further his medical treatment in Israel where the notable Super Eagle goalkeeper, Joseph Dosu, had had his own similar spinal cord injury treated earlier.
The massive support that Yinka Ayefele got from the broadcasting family throughout the Southwest of the country was unprecedentedly huge, and thanks to no one but Kola Olootu.
The likes of Kola Olootu, Gbenga Adeboye, Toba Opaleye, Komolafe Olaiya and Gboyega Lawal were amongst the broadcasters that God used when Yinka Ayefele was in the eyes of the storm and turbulence of destiny.
For all those that know him very well, Kola Olootu’s ostentatious lifestyle has been keeping many people’s tongues wagging over the years for his garrulousness.
Though, we have to give it to him, out of all the ace TV and radio presenters we have known so far in this part of the world, few like Kola Olootu are capable of shattering their mountains with their verbal missiles like he does.

Yes, no one can downplay the role Kola Olootu played in railroading late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister in crowning Osupa Saheed as King of Music but we must not also pretend as if we don’t know that Kola Olootu was obviously on a mission of vendetta to take his own pound of flesh from Saheed Osupa who he accused of abandoning him after he had become popular and rich. Kola Olootu made this fact known on a live radio programme few weeks ago which had become a subject of contention between the two.
Many people believe Kola Olootu goofed by revealing the secret array of events that led to how the late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister was coerced to crown Saheed Osupa the controversial title of King of Music.
Before this war broke out between them, Kola Olootu had paid a visit to Wasiu Ayinde K1 in his palatial home in Ijẹbu Ode shortly after K1 was crowned as Olori Ọmọ Ọba of Ijẹbuland, a most noble title last held by well decorated Nigerian and founder of First City Monument Bank, Otunba Subomi Balogun who passed away recently.
The visit which Kola Olootu streamed live on all his social media platforms including Facebook which went viral and kept people wondering why Kola Olootu suddenly turned to K1.
Many people felt Kola Olootu was up to something sinister the day he visited K1.
The hyping he is suddenly bestowing on K1 and ‘dehyping’ he suddenly begins to give to Osupa Saheed are not coincident.
Osupa is not ready to back down as he recently referred to Kola Olootu as BABA GEBU.
