My birthday columns are not always a free gift or just weaving words into lines to hype individuals without merit. My birthday writings are significant to celebrate individuals who are making meaningful impacts in the lives of the people around them and the community by extension. Hence, the need to put my pen on paper again to celebrate the birthday of Prince Dr. Bashir Leke Ijaiya becomes imperative and important.

Every 24th of July marks the day an icon, a rare gem was born into a big family in Offa Kwara State. A family with the ascriptive status of housing about ten professors in Nigeria, the Ijaiya family of Offa is a renowned one across the country with their affluence, influence, and investment in education. The Ijaiya family is not only wealthy and knowledgeable, but they are also reservoirs of knowledge in different academic fields. The premise of this piece is not basically about the family, but a personality and a public figure whose family background is a reflection of his kind, generous, humble, cordial, and interpersonal relationships between and among people living around him. Prince Dr. Bashir Leke Ijaiya Esq. is an illustrious son of Offa and a fulfilled personality from the great lineage.

My definition of a fulfilled live varies and is not measured by big mansions, or exotic cars, a fulfilled person is someone who sees other people’s problems as a challenge that must be tackled, and a fulfilled personality is someone who impacts meaningfully in the lives of people devoid of ethnicity, bias, and sentiment. In all ramifications, Barr. Bashir Ijaiya is a fulfilled personality. He sees individual problems as a challenge that must be cleared and always channel his human and material resources to assist the needy, the less privileged, and the oppressed.

Like the word of Shakespeare, greatness can be inborn, inherited, and can be attained through hard work and diligence, Barrister Ijaiya is a beneficiary of the three tiers of greatness. He is born great, he inherited greatness and acquired it through hard work and diligence. His high level of intelligence, influence, and intellectual capacity as a University Don, Islamic Scholar, and great legal pundit do not stop him from relating freely and harmoniously with people at the grassroots. His humility is refined in his simplicity.

Allah says in the Holy Quran that those who spend charitably from what He has provided for them will have a reserved place in paradise, to buttress this are those martyrs who were given the certificates to paradise right from their lifetime. Those martyrs still remain and alive spending for charity. They are in different localities assisting people and giving hope to the hopeless.

Dr. Bashir Ijaiya Esq. in no doubt, is one of the rare gems on earth whose existence remains a blessing to mankind, to their family and to their immediate community. He gives without looking back, he is a philanthropist par excellence and a community developer whose love and passion for his community remain indefatigable.

Offa is blessed with notable illustrious sons and daughters making waves in different fields of endeavor across the globe. Dr. Bashir Ijaiya is one of these numerous numbers of fulfilled Offa sons and daughters. He sees the world as transient and beyond himself, he is a consistent personality in the delivery of promises. You can not have him around you and feel insecure. He is like one of the heroes that found their ways into the pages of History as a subject.

Congratulations to the Prince of Peace, Lawyer of repute, pious philanthropist, giver of charity, generous personality, human rights activist, community developer, and man of the people on his birthday. May it not be the last celebration on earth. Many more prosperous years ahead in more wealth and sound health.

Happy Birthday, Barrister at law
