Economic hardship occasioned by the Naira redesign and other other unplatable variables prior to the 2023 general elections regardless, majority of voters who voted for the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu were those full of optimism that Jagaban will deviate from the inconsequential policy of #5,000, #10, 0000 distribution as palliatives initiated by President Muhammad Buhari-led administration.
Same majority of Nigerians were on the same page with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the removal of fuel subsidy because it has been discovered to be a venture aimed at enriching very few at the expense of teeming millions of people. Still same majority are not presently on the same page with the idea of disbursement of 8,000 monthly palliative to the acclaimed 12 million households in the country. Why? It has been analyzed not to only be unwise but economically impotent!
The sincerity of purpose of the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should be communicated not in sweet words but in proactive actions devoid of parasitic dispositions. Whilst the citizenry had and still makes sacrifices for a RENEWED Hope in the country leadership, the political class should equally not insensitive to the plight of the masses and be ready to sincerely shoulder some sacrifices both in pragmatic policy making and slimming of accrued bogus political spendings.
Unfortunately, I am not part of those lamenting about the economy policies of the former President Muhammad Buhari because I expected nothing short from a war general with no economic stimulus. The sophisticated economy skills and antecedents of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as exhibited in Lagos State over the last two decades, cultivated the bulk of expectation of Nigerians not excluding my humble self in proactive economic policies.
The said N500B earmarked for the disbursement of 8k palliative is too scarce and huge to be wasted without any economy prospect. As for me, no single hope is lost in the ability of the present Federal Government to right the wrongs by re-channeling such funds to a more promising economy ventures via an inclusive and pragmatic policy for socio-economic prosperity.
In orotund, the masses says: No to #8,000 palliative disbursement….8KisFk!!!
