The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s House of Assembly Candidate for Ojomu Balogun Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Comrade Salahudeen A. Lukman has commiserated with immediate family of Professor Jimoh Mosobalaje Oyawoye over the demise of the patriarch.

He as well sent his condolence to Offa royal families, Offa-in-council and Offaland.

Professor Jimoh Mosobalaje Oyawoye, who was the first professor of Geology in Africa, died on Monday, May 22.

In a statement he personally signed on Tuesday, Comrade Salahudeen said: “the news of passage to the greater beyond of Prof Moh’d Jamiu Mosobalaje Oyawoye is not only a loss confined to Offa and Kwara Muslim community where he served meritoriously as respected statesman and Baba Adinni. His demise marked the exit of intellectual wealth to the global, continental, regional and national societies in mining and geoscience where I also belong as a member.

“As a foremost earth scientist in the history of Africa continent, aside being thr first professor of Geology in Africa, Prof Oyawoye was a symbol of peace, unity and development in every aspect of his life and endeavours.

“He was a true nationalist, scholar and elderstatesman who devoted his lifetime to build many individuals and a sustainable wealth for the nation and continent.

“While praying for his soul’s perfect and peaceful rest, I seek almighty Allah’s mercy upon all he left behind, including fortitude to bear the loss to the immediate family, friends, associates and Offaland.

“The royal families, the Olofa-in-Council as well as the good people of Offa Community should do take heart and find solace in the fact that Prof lived an impactful life hence his glorious exit at 96.”
