The Nigeria Peace Corps (Establishment) Bill, 2023 Conference Committee Report has been approved by the Senate.

It came after Seriake Dickson, vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Interior’s statement on Tuesday.

The representative claimed that the Senate and House committees convened and approved the House version.

The version of the green chamber that kept the moniker “Peace Corps of Nigeria” was approved by the joint committee.

The Senate version’s clause 38 (1), which conflicted with the House version under the same clause, was the focus of the approved report.

The Senate’s version calls for the abolition of the current National Unity and Peace Corps as well as the Peace Corps of Nigeria.

When President Muhammadu Buhari gave his consent, the House proposed dissolving the Nigerian Peace Corps and replacing it with the Nigerian Peace Corps.

However, the report acknowledged that a measure must be approved by both chambers of the National Assembly in order to become an act of parliament in Nigeria.
