The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested a 32-year-old Maryam Yusuf for stealing baskets of pepper in Kulende Market, Ilorin
Parading the suspects at the command headquarters, the Command Public Relations Officer, Olasunkanmi Ayeni said there has always been a report from the market in which their goods are often carted away which has resulted in fighting between the market people accusing each other
Ayeni disclosed that the suspect who is a tailor and trader was apprehended in the process of taking away the stolen pepper
He added that the Corps would hand over the suspect to the appropriate authorities for prosecution, as he appealed to the general public to be conscious of their environment and ensure to monitor the movements of people around
He charged them to not hesitate to report any strange movement from their area
Iyaloja of Kulende market, Hajia Maryam Ibrahim Jaiyeola noted that the market has been terrorizing for the past few months
She urged the government to prioritize the security of the market and ensure the suspect is brought to book
However, the suspect, Maryam Yusuf admitted to stealing the pepper, expressing regrets over her actions.
