A former councilor of Offa local government area of Kwara State, Mr. Hakeem, has used his car to crushed a man as well as a container in Offa, on Wednesday.
The accident occurred at opposite Pa Soleye’s house, St. Mark Cathedral Church.
Speaking with a witness, who preferred to be called Wasiu, he said “the car was coming from the newly tarred road when he reached the junction, he turned towards Ita-Erin Junction, suddenly he derails from the road, crossed a gutter, crushed a container, and hit Brother Wale to a pillar despite that he ran for his life when he saw the car coming.
“Brother Wale as a result of this accident may lose his two legs as he was crushed to this pillar. They have to push the car before they could be able to rescue him. The driver is still in good condition though he hit his head on the glass; both of them are in the hospital,” he added.
A woman in his early 30s said “I was on the bike when the incident occurred. I saw 3 kids in uniform and as soon as the kids crossed the road, the incident happened.
“In fact, God save those children that is what I can say. Thanks to God,” she added.
The car has been towed to the nearest police station despite area boys insisting that the car would not be towed if the ‘case is not settled’ (pay for the damages) until police intervened.
The driver and the victim are still in the hospital receiving treatment.
