The Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for Asa/Ilorin-west Federal Constituency, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia has outrightly rejected the outcome of the votes as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Ajia in a statement released on Monday , signed by the Director of Communications of Ajia Campaign Organisation (ACO), Malam Abdulrahman Aliagan and made available to journalists noted that the election was marred with irregularities.

In the statement, Ajia vowed to challenge the outcome of the election in the court of competent jurisdictions, in order not to subvert the wishes of the people.

INEC had on Sunday declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muktar Tolani Shagaya as the winner of the poll.

The statement reads, “The House of Representatives candidate of PDP for Asa/Ilorin-west federal constituency, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia want to make it categorically clear that the outcomes of election as declared by INEC was marred with irregularities, it fails the principles of free, fair and credible elections as stipulated by the Electoral Acts.

“Our popular candidate, is a victim of widespread electoral fraud and manipulation by INEC in connections with the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq administration in the state.

“The elections were characterized by widespread irregularities, intimidation and voter suppression in order to clear the path for the inglorious ‘victory’ of APC in the polls.

“It was crystal clear that the game plan was to overturn the popular wishes of the people of Asa/Ilorin-west federal constituency, whose their candidate has come out to challenge the maladministration going on in the state.

“While we thank and appreciate the support of our teaming supporters, we equally want to appeal to them to remain peaceful and calm, we will not relent in pursuing our stolen electoral mandate to the limit of the law through all the constitutional means. the statement concluded.
