The House of Reps candidate of people’s democratic party, PDP, Engineer Dare Bankole has rejected the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, declaring the All progressives Congress, Tunji Raheem Ajuloopin, as the winner of Saturday’s election in Irepodun, Isin, Ekiti andOke-Ero federal constituency.
Bankole, in a statement through his mandate office , on Monday , said the results were fraught with many malpractices, voter’s manipulations, fraud, over-voting, vote buying among other irregularities
The statement said that after careful study of the elections outcome, the results, as announced by INEC do not conform to or reflect the votes and wishes of the people of the constituency as the exercise was marred by gross manipulations, voters inducements , intimidation and other irregularities.
Bankole while expressing gratitude to the electorates across the four LGs for their huge supports during the excericse, said ,apart from the fact that the All Progressives Congress did not have lawful representation on the ballot, the many irregularities which marred the excercise could not be overlooked
He therefore declared his intention to reclaim his mandate at the court of competent jurisdiction
The statement reads in part :
“We are not unaware of the decision of the Apex court in the suit between Engr CO Adebayo and Mr Tunji Olawuyi Ajuloopin , the court without any ambiguity had voided the candidacy of the latter ,who was unconsciously declared by INEC , the implication of this is that the APC did not field any lawful candidate for the Reps elections ”
“Of importance to mention also, are the obvious malpractices and open inducement of voters with electronic transfer of cash by agents of the ruling apc before and during the voting excercises in order to induce voters in favour of APCs candidates. Our agents at the polling booths also reported several instances of over voting, intimidation and other irregularities”
All these and many are anomalies cannot be overlooked by any lover of democracy.
The House of Representatives results in Irepodun, Isin, Ekiti and Oke-Ero federal constituency are hereby rejected and after robust legal consultation on the subject matter , I’ve decided to proceed in seeking to reclaim this mandate in court of competent jurisdiction as we cannot afford to let down the hopes of our people who came out enmass to show thier rejections to the apc administration using the ballots” he said.
