… Says Abdulrazaq has garnered almost half a trillion naira with nothing to show
Former commissioner for finance in Kwara state and cheiftain of Peoples Democratic party, Mr Ademola Nurudeen Banu has berated the incumbent Abdulrazaq led government in the state, describing it as insincere and non transparent in the handling of Kwara state finances .
Banu, who disclosed this in an interview with Newtelegraphs newspaper, which was closely monitored by this medium, noted that, contrary to the lies being spined by the incumbent government, past administration under Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed (Maigida ) did not owe any outstanding loan.
He said apart from the fact that the pdp led government cleared all outstanding loan obligations, more than N8.5Bn was also left in government coffers which Abdulrazaq inherited in 2019.
He Knocked Abdulrazaq for accessing close to half a trillion naira in revenue since 2019 but with nothing to show as dividends of government for the people of Kwara. Banu therefore described Abdulrazaq’s led apc-led administration as a woeful failures in all ramifications.
His statement partly reads: “The governor lied when he said that he has been using the funds received to pay the loan. I will like to state that the last administration paid all its loan obligations except for the bailout funds, which were given to all the states and were repayable for 20 years. It will be recalled that the previous government left over N8.5 billion for the new administration”
“The government (referring to Abdulrazaq Govt), has collected huge loans, several federal government financial interventions/bailout/ Paris Club and the N35 billion bond. What is the impact of those loans on Kwarans? It is estimated that the state has received revenue close to half a trillion naira, including a huge loan of over N60 billion. Unfortunately, this government has not been transparent and accountable in the handling of its finances. Everything has been kept in secrecy. I would like to mention that the people will be interested to know how the money was spent. The governor should also remember to sign the Freedom of Information Bill.”
