A former Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation in Osun State and close ally of the Minister of Interior, Honourable Idowu Korede, has died.
Many of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains, members, and supporters of the popular politician and environmental sanitation specialist who was born in Ijesa were shocked to learn of his passing and are now grieving greatly.
According to reports, the late lawmaker had been ailing for some time before passing away on the night of the new year.
He served as the Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation during the second term of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the current Minister of the Interior and longtime leader of the All Progressives Congress in Ilesa East local government.
In the build-up to the July 16th Governorship election, he pitched his tent with The Osun Progressives (TOP), a group within the Osun APC loyal to Aregbesola and is also considered Aregbesola’s footman since he hail from the same LGA as the Minister.
Expressing his sadness over the loss, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, described the death of Hon Idowu Korede, as a personal loss that he is yet to come to terms with.
