In 2022, 3,785 convictions were obtained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
A evaluation of the commission’s performance during the previous year led to the confirmation of the amount on January 4.
The breakdown reveals an increase of 70.5% from the 2021 record (2,220 convictions).
The anti-graft agency lost only 41 cases in 2022, or 98.93% of all prosecutions, for a prosecution success percentage of 1.07%.
With 765 convictions, the Lagos Command recorded the most; Ibadan Command came in second with 573. While the Abuja headquarters recorded 314, Port Harcourt Command recorded 567.
The number of victories in 2022 will be at an all-time high, according to EFCC spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren, since the organization’s founding in 2003.
In 2015, the commission recorded a total of 103 convictions, 195 in 2016, 312 in 2018 and 1280 in 2019. It dropped to 976 in 2020, largely due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
