Didier Deschamps, the head coach of France, has stated that the team is taking efforts to prevent the spread of a virus before Sunday’s World Cup final matchup against Argentina.
Due to illness, Dayot Upamecano and Adrien Rabiot were unable to participate in Wednesday’s 2-0 semifinal victory over Morocco.
Deschamps has acknowledged the pair had initially been kept apart from other players, despite his optimism that both will be fit for the final.
Rabiot stayed at the team hotel while Upamecano was selected on the bench against Morocco.
Middle East respiratory syndrome, which can result in a flu-like disease of varying severity, has plagued many tourists to Qatar.
“We’ve had a few cases of flu-like symptoms. We are trying to be careful so it doesn’t spread and players have made great efforts out on the pitch and obviously their immune systems suffer,” Deschamps said.
