The renovation of Ijio-Idiko-Ile Road has received the approval of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
The street is one of the streets in the state’s Oke Ogun geopolitical zone.
One of the state’s five zones is called Oke Ogun.
On Thursday, Makinde claimed to have given his approval for the road’s rehabilitation.
He spoke during a public forum organized in the Iseyin Local Government Area at the town hall.
Several notable people from the state were present at the town hall.
Barrister Bayo Lawal, the deputy governor, and Taofeek Arapaja, the deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), were among those present at the meeting.
Makinde, while addressing the gathering, explained that work is ongoing at the College of Agricultural Science and Renewable Natural Resources, Iseyin Campus of the Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso.
He said that the campus lecture theatre would be named after the immediate past Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdul Ganiy Adekunle Salau.
Makinde also announced that he had approved the upgrade of Iseyin Township Hall.
He said that there were clashes in some parts of the state, but Amotekun, Police and other security agencies have been able to manage and resolve some of those problems.
He explained that the Fulanis and the Yorubas have been living together in the state for several years.
He said that when he came into government, the state recorded farmers’ and herders’ clashes almost weekly.
He explained further that his government, in November 2019, banned open grazing to avoid clashes.
Makinde said, “When we came into government, we used to record farmers and herders clashes almost every week. In November 2019, I banned open grazing in Oyo State.
“Later, we set up Amotekun. Everybody thought we created the outfit to send away the Fulani herdsmen but in Oyo State, the Fulanis and Yorubas have been living together. I can tell you that the farmers/herders clashes have reduced considerably.
“From the reports I have with me, there are clashes sometimes but Amotekun, Police, other security agencies and our traditional rulers have been able to manage and resolve some of those problems”.
