Ahead of the 2023 general elections, stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Offa local government area of Kwara State have quenched grievances and reconciled.
The aggrieved members are the National Director Contact and Mobilization for Atiku Care Foundation (ACF), Honourable Bukoye Marooph Bintinlaye, Offa PDP Chairman, Honourable Jide Jatto, Offa PDP Secretary, Adeyemo Mufutau and a PDP chieftain, Sarafa Bakare (Honourable Ojee).
The meeting took place on Wednesday at the private residence of 2023 PDP House of Representatives candidate for Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency, Honourable Hassan Oyeyemi Oyeleke in Offa.
Oyeleke who presided over the meeting said the aggrieved members are merely victims to calumny. He added that these calumnies have created misgivings and clouded perceptions among themselves.
“2023 general elections are fast approaching and we need a reflection of a greater synergy in the party. Intricacies were caused by naysayers and gossips. We should not give them a chance.
“This meeting is geared towards clearing the air on who said what and when, and I am happy that you all met today and everything is trashed.
“This is no time to for the party’s bigwigs to work at cross purposes, owing to political differences,” Oyeleke said.
In his remarks, Bintinlaye described the reconciliation as ‘timely, divine and an act of God,’ urging others to give peace a chance.
“This is timely, divine and an act of God. It is not a coincidence that this meeting came on my 55th birthday anniversary. It has God’s hands.
“I also thank the party’s structure, leaders and those who intervened especially my personal assistant, Pince Saheed Shittu who made this meeting possible.”
Bintinlaye expressed hope that sustained unity amongst members of the party would bring about more progress and development in Offa Local Government.
On his part, Jatto said unity amongst stakeholders can foster prosperity in the party.
He said: “our strength lies in unity; those who think we will go into battle divided and take advantage of it will be disappointed.”
The aggrieved members harmoniously said the rift between them was over and a new political atmosphere has henceforth commenced.
Others at the meeting were Honourable Bintinlaye’s Personal Assistant, Prince Saheed Shittu and media aide, Jimoh Taofik Adekunle.
