The Kogi government attributes the explosion that occurred in Okene on Thursday to “enemies” who chose to launch their attack during President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) was in Lokoja when Jerry Omodara, the security adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello, spoke.

Near the former palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, the explosion happened at roughly 9.00 a.m. Dead were four people.

Omodara stated that information about the incident was provided to the state authorities.

There were enough security personnel deployed, according to the retired Commodore, to thwart the “efforts.”

“The enemies of progress tried to distract President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Kogi by setting off that explosion.”

Omodara maintained that the blast was orchestrated by “misguided politicians and people who don’t want anything good for their state”.

The adviser further accused “disgruntled politicians” of celebrating the incident.

He urged everyone to take security seriously, warning that no one is immune to attack.

Sources told DAILY POST correspondent that a bomb was planted in a car before it exploded.
