The late Stephen Marley’s son and the late Bob Marley’s grandson, Joseph Jo Mersa Marley, passed away at the age of 31.
The upcoming performer was discovered unconscious in a car on Tuesday in an unidentified place in the United States.
The Florida radio station WZPP reports that Joseph Jo, who apparently had asthma his entire life, passed away due to an asthma attack.
Bob Marley, Joseph’s great-grandfather, passed away from cancer in 1981 at the age of 36, leaving behind 11 children.
Andrew Holness, Jamaican Prime Minister said in a tweet that he was “deeply saddened” by news of the death, and offered his condolences to Marley’s parents, Stephen and Kerry.
Also, Mark J. Golding, a Jamaican politician and the president of the People’s National Party, mourned Jo’s death on social media.
In a tweet, he said, “I’ve just learned of the tragic loss of Joseph “Jo Mersa” Marley. A talented young reggae artiste, son of Stephen Marley & grandson of Bob Marley at only 31 yrs old. my condolence to Stephen & the entire family.”
