Three adolescent boys have been detained by the Anambra State Police Command for allegedly gang-raping their next-door neighbor’s 13-year-old girl in Enekwesumpu Nkpor, Idemili North LGA.
The father of the victim is a co-tenant with the accused, who have been identified as Sunday, Emelie, Chiedu, and one other who is still at large.
Following a complaint from the victim, they were detained with security personnel from the Anambra Vigilante Group and National Agency For Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) authorities.
After an argument with her father, the victim said the suspects brought her to the Nkisi River and sexually assaulted her.
She claims they beat her and brought her to the river, where they told her to take off her clothing and took turns having sex with her.
Two of the suspects confessed to the killing and begged for forgiveness, saying that they had done it because of their conflict with her father, during questioning.
The third suspect, however, insisted that he was simply present when the incident occurred and did not take part. He was the second person to have had carnal knowledge of the victim, according to the victim, who refuted this assertion.
