The Onijan of Ijan-Ekiti, Oba Lawrence Adebanji Aladesuyi was, on Wednesday, presented the staff of office.
The official presentation of the staff took place at St Paul’s Anglican Primary School, Ijan, Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The presentation was done by the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, ably represented by the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Agbeyemi.
Otunba Egbeyemi, in his presentation, congratulated all the indigenes of Ijan-Ekiti and expressed satisfaction for the maturity and transparency displayed by the chiefs and kingmakers in the community.
According to him, these ethos were brought to fruition as evident in the installation process.
The new Onijan of Ijan-Ekiti thanked God Almighty for counting him worthy for this elated position.
He also expressed profound appreciation to all the kingmakers, the royal family that presented him as a candidate, the Elu’s, vis-a-vis all the chiefs, all Ijan sons and daughters, home and in diaspora for their love and unflinching support enjoyed during his installation.
Oba Adebanji also pledged his total support to all and sundry and preached love, unity and progress among his subjects to enable him use his many years of experience gotten in the course of his works globally to develop the community to the pedestal of respectability among her counterparts in the environs.
Recall that the royal stool became vacant sometimes last year when Oba Oyewole Fadahunsi died after 19 years on throne.
Oba Fadahunsi ascended the throne on September 22, 2002, ruled for 19 years before his death at age 70.
