The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Kwara state, Comrade Bashir Oyewo has said efforts are ongoing to breach the gap between Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) and Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB) teachers in the state.
Oyewo, while featuring on a weekly news and current affairs programme, “Real Talk” on Okin 105.7FM, Offa, on Saturday, narrated how relentless the union has been working on the disparity.
He said the governor of the state, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazak has been informed of issues affecting teachers.
Comrade Bashir Oyewo lamented that it is demoralizing and discouraging when the members fail to have confidence in the union leaders.
Speaking on the check up dues deducted from teachers salaries, Oyewo described the humongous responsibilities the union uses the fees for and finally urged teachers in the state to visit the NUT Secretariat and ask questions when the need be.
He subsequently assured teachers in Kwara State that the union will never relent until welfare of teachers is ultimately catered for.
Also featured on the radio programme was the immediate Past 2nd Vice President of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Chief Adebowale Adeyemo who called for interface between leadership of any association and members to enhance accountability.
Adeyemo also urged members to desist from destructive criticism which can discourage union leaders and affect their morale.
